Atheist Because a Child Dies Starving
Question:
A friend asked me he is an aetheist because how can a child die starving.
Answer:
The assumption of your friend is that the God that we believe in has the responsibility to make sure every one in this world will have a very good and happy life.
The God that we (followers of the Abrahamic religion) believe in is not defined as such. In fact a child dying from starving completly fits with the purpose of our existence in this world (i.e. to be challenged), as God has designed it.
If it was only this world that we were going to experience then your friend could argue that either the God that we believe in is very unfair or that He does not exist at all.
The point however is, we are only in a waiting room. The main destination is yet to come, after our death. If any one wants to judge or assess the fairness or the existence of the God that we believe in, he needs to consider the whole system of belief in order to arrive at a rationally justified conclusion.
