Hijab Is a Ruling In the Qur'an

Please do not give fatwas and misguide people on this website. Clearly you are not a scholar, not to say that you have to be a scholar to know the basic requirements of a women's covering in front of non-Mehrams (ie, everything from her head to her ankles; with some making an exception for her face and hands.

Thanks for your comment. Your comment shows your love and enthusiasm for Islam and is therefore commendable.
You refer to your understanding as the 'basic requirement that any one knows'. In explaining your understanding you wrote "with some making an exception". If this is a 'basic requirement' that any one knows, then how come there are different views about it? How come there have not been strong evidences to support a 'basic requirement' so that it results in full agreement among the scholars?
You wrote my writing misguides people. I respect the visitors of this website. I trust that every one who cares to visit this website, like yourself, is a person capable of thinking and reasoning. I think we should trust people's intelligence and respect them, and allow them to read different views and decide which view is more valid to their understanding. This was the way that people at the time of the companions used to learn Islam.
I prefer to focus on arguments rather than debating over who is a scholar and who is not. I think the criteria for accepting the truth is whether the reasoning is acceptable, and not whether the person who says it, in our view, is a scholar or not. (1)
I therefore respectfully encourage you to enrich our website by providing your reasoning in answering the following question:
The title of your question is: "Hijab Is a Ruling In the Qur'an"
You then implied in your comment that it is a basic requirement that a woman in front of the non-mahram needs to cover "everything from her head to her ankles, with some making an exception for her face and hands".
My conclusion based on the above two writings of you is that you believe:
"The Qur'an has made the rule that a woman in front of non-mahram needs to cover everything from her head to her ankles, or - according to a different understanding - at least everything with the exception of her face and hands".
My question to you is as follows:
In your view, or the view of who ever you trust to be a learned scholar, which verse or verses of the Qur'an give us the above ruling?

1. You would perhaps consider an al-Azhar scholar to be a 'proper scholar'. I encourage you to read about the research findings of Sheikh Mustafa Rashid on the subject of Hijab. You can read a summary of his findings in an interview with him (in Arabic) here. You will see that his findings are very similar to what I wrote in my answers. I can assure you he is not the only scholar who has arrived on this sort of conclusion. Yes, the vast majority view is in deed different. The majority view is always respectable, but it is not always correct and we are not supposed to accept a view simply because the majority of scholars hold it.
