How to Dispose Papers with Qur'anic Verses

Question:
How do you dispose Islamic literature or papers with Quranic verses on them. Is it ok to shred them?

Answer:
We do not have any specific regulations about this in Shari'ah. It is therefore up to individuals to decide what they think is the most suitable way to do this. We all respect verses of the Qur'an and words like Allah, every one can decide what is the best way for him/her to show this respect.

If you want to shred them, then my suggestion is that it should be done in a way that when one looks at the shredded paper, one does not recognise that these were verses of the Qur'an or holy names like Allah.  In other words, they should be disposed in a way that once the job is done, the image of torn verses of the Qur'an does not appear when looking at the shredded paper.
