Mathematical Miracle of the Qur'an
Question:
assalamualykum
I read on your sister site understanding islam that one of the authors does not believe in the miracle of 19 in the quran because it is not mentioned in the quran. However, it is mentioned in surat al mudathir. In the surah it says that 19 is one of the great ones.
Note: I am not a rashad khalifa follower, he faked numbers on multiple occasions and he goes on to claim that their are two false verses and copyist errors in the quran. Astaghfurillah

Assalamu Alaykum,
Before I answer your question I think I need to clarify two things:
- I do not think it is necessary that a Qur’anic miracle should be necessarily mentioned in the Qur’an.
- I am not convinced by the so called miracle of 19 in the Qur’an simply because I do not see the provided evidences and examples to be convincing.
As for the verse 74:30, the verse has not mentioned number 19 as a miracle of the Qur’an or as anything related to the Qur’an. If you read from verse 26 to 30 and also pay attention to beginning of verse 31 you will see that the verse is talking about the number of angels who are appointed to the hell fire. This is not the only number that is mentioned in the Qur’an. We have many numbers mentioned in the Qur’an within their own context. Accordingly I imagine that a person who demands a reference to the so called miracle of 19 can easily argue that verse 74:30 is irrelevant to the subject under discussion.
