Not Praying, What Must Be My Place in the Eyes of God?
Question:
I do all the good that i can.. i give charity, as much as i can.. try not to hurt people's feelings.. everything. the only thing is that i do not say my prayers. my question is, where would this take me eventually ? heaven or hell ?
Answer:
No one but God knows the destiny of people in the hereafter.
I think the best source you can use as an indicator of your position in the eyes of God is nothing but His own words, that is the Qur'an.
I can only copy some of the verses of the Qur'an here and leave it to yourself to decide what they mean to you:
So woe to the praying ones, Who are unmindful of their prayers... - Al Ma'oon 107: 4-5
Surely man is created of a hasty temperament, Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him, And niggardly when good befalls him, Except those who pray, Those who are constant at their prayer ... And those who keep a guard on their prayer, Those shall be in gardens, honored. - Al Maarij 70: 19-24; 34-35
Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, Except the people of the right hand, In gardens, they shall ask each other, About the guilty: What has brought you into hell? They shall say: We were not of those who prayed ... - Al Muddathir 74:38-43
These are they on whom Allah bestowed favours, from among the prophets of the seed of Adam, and of those whom We carried with Nuh, and of the seed of Ibrahim and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose; when the communications of the Beneficent Allah were recited to them, they fell down making obeisance and weeping. But there came after them an evil generation, who neglected prayers and followed sensual desires, so they win meet perdition, Except such as repent and believe and do good, these shall enter the garden, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly in any way ... - Maryam 19: 58-60
Then set your face upright for religion in the right state-- the nature made by Allah in which He has made men; there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion, but most people do not know . Turn to Him, and be careful of (your duty to) Him and keep up prayer and be not of the polytheists. - Al Room 30:30-31
... But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know. - Al Tawbah 9:11
Attend constantly to prayers and to the middle prayer and stand up truly obedient to Allah. - Al Baqarah 2:238
... surely prayer is a timed ordinance for the believers. - Al Niss'a 4:103
Say to My servants who believe, that they should keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them secretly and openly before the coming of the day in which there shall be no bartering nor mutual befriending. -Ibrahim 14:31
- Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book and keep up prayer; surely prayer keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do. - Al Ankaboot 29:45
