Our Prophet Had Shadow?
Question:
All humans have, and i believe Prophet Muhammad swl had shadow. I would like you to reflect on this with some reference from Quran or Hadees, so that i can guide my friends who think it was a miracle that our Prophet did not had shadow.
Answer:
My dear brother,
Let’s say I claim one day that there is a giant dragon living in planet Neptune. You ask me how I can say that and I answer you saying: "bring me evidence that this is not true!".
The onus of bringing evidence is always on the shoulder of a person who claims something.
If your friend believes that the Prophet (pbuh) did not have shadow then it is his responsibility to bring an evidence about this from the Qur’an or authentic Hadith.
Having said that, here is the evidence from the Qur’an that the Prophet did have shadow:
قُلْ إِنَّما أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُم …
"Say (prophet) I am only a human being like you …" (18:110)
If the Prophet (pbuh) did not have a shadow then when he would say the above sentence people had every right to say: “you are lying, you are not a human being like us because we all have shadow but you don’t”.
Every time that your friend reads the Sura of al-Fatiha and says Wa La Dhaallin (not –the way of – misguided) he is asking God not to put him in the path of exaggerators (look at verse 5:77 to understand the relationship between misguidance and exaggeration in religion).
May God fulfill his and our prayers.
