Stammering in Prayer

Question:
I am a 19 year old Muslim girl. I was not born as a stammerer but when I was 18 all of a sudden I began to find my self stammer only when I perform salah. Even now that am 19 and will be turning 20 soon I still stammer only when I pray. It is so sad and tiring because I take time to perform my prayers instead of spending like 8 minutes to perform my salaat I spend more than that. Even when I take things slowly when praying, I stammer too, I can’t seem to understand why. Before I became 18 I was not like this. Before I became 18 I was able to pray peacefully and not having to be under tension due to my stammering while I pray. I just want to enjoy my prayer.

Answer:
Respected sister, prayer is not about uttering words correctly and fully. God already knows what you are going to say in your prayer. If you find it difficult to say the words correctly or completely there is nothing wrong with your prayer. Based on the information you gave us, I can say that you definitely do not need to bother about repeating the words in an attempt to say them completely or correctly. If you focus too much on the words, you will lose the real focus. The real focus is supposed to be on the fact that you are talking with your Lord.
This is my practical suggestion:
If you are stammering a lot, then simply say the words in your heart and do not bother uttering them. If you are stammering a little, then say the words that are coming easily and say any word that does not come out easily at your heart.
Hopefully when you let go of the pressure you are feeling just now, your stammering will also go away and then you can pray as usual.
