Starting Place of Wearing Ihram for Hajj
Question:
Is wearing Ahram while proceeding for Umrah from Pakistan mandatory or after reaching Mecca,can be worn from the place of MEEQAT Masjid e Aisha.
Answer:
This is an Ijtihadi (opinion based) issue since obviously people would not travel by air at the time of the Prophet (pbuh). In my view obliging ourselves to wear Ihram from the country of departure or while on board in the air is not quite inline with the general spirit of easiness and flexibility in Islam (although it is of course permissible). The person can wait to land in Arabia, then he should use the Miqat that is prescribed for his situation (based on his location and route towards Haram).
