What More Does Islam Have To Offer Me?
Question:
I am a Christian. What does Islam have to offer me that is better than what I have now?
Answer:
Based on what I have learned from the Qur'an (2:62), being labelled as Christian or Muslim (or Jew, etc.) does not mean anything before God. What really matters is true believe in one and only one God (with no associates and no divine manifestations), belief in the hereafter and doing righteous deeds.
If you are fulfilling these conditions then you are already in the fold of islam, as referred to in the Qur'an. If you are not fulfilling these conditions then you may want to consult Bible to convince yourself about these criteria. You may also want to consult the Qur'an as it brings you a more explicit statement about the same criteria that Bible also refers to.
The Qur'an also gives you information about Jesus (pbuh) as a great prophet of God (3:43-60, 5:110-115, 19:16-36) and that what happened to him at the end (4:157, 158). The Qur'an also criticises the concept of trinity and the concept of giving divine status to Jesus (pbuh) (4:171, 5:72-75, 5:116-119). The Qur'an also informs that Jesus (pbuh) gave the good news of coming of the prophet of Islam (pbuh) to his people (61:6).
