Calling Someone Non-Muslim (Follow Up)
Question:
While I understand calling someone a non-Muslim when they consider themself Muslim a sin for the accuser, I prefer to use the words: "Muslim in title, but not in your heart." I know so many like this that only adhere to Islam when it suits them to do so. Many do not practice as they preach and this is from arrogance.
Answer:
None of us can claim that we are 100% Muslim in our hearts. If we are suuposed to refer to some people as Muslim in title but not in heart, then this also applies to ourselves and others.
Instead of being sensitive about titles, I think it is more constructive if we establish the habit of advising each other to the truth (Haqq) and advising each other to do right (Ma'ruf) and to refrain from doing wrong (Munkar) in our close circles.
